The Amateur Cook in me: Siomai

I honed my cooking skills here in Madrid, Spain.  I am the known "no cook"  in my circle of friends.  But as survival calls for, I had to learn to cook to satisfy my cravings for my favorite Filipino dishes - and that started my journey to cooking - to satisfy my hunger. :):):)

I am very blessed that I have a husband and a son who patronize my cooking.  My heart melts bigtime everytime my son says that I am an excellent cook - this is considering that for him my specialties are rice, home made french fries :):):), egg and grilled fish or meat.  :):)

From time to time I will share with you my recipes, these are recipes fit for an active mom who has a very busy schedule - these are easy, home cooked recipes yet delicious and of quality.  My cooking expertise :) hehehe specializes in a fusion of Asian (Filipino, Malaysian and Chinese) and Spanish cuisines.

I will start off by showing our simple, easy Siomai recipe - a specialty and a bestseller in our food stall business, PINTSIK.

SIOMAI Recipe:

Ingredients:
1/4 ground pork
8 pieces medium sized shrimps
Ginger diced into very small pieces
Dimsum or Wanton Wrapper (you can buy this or make this from scratch - flour, water, salt, baking powder and baking soda)
For the sauce:  Soy sauce and lemon or calamansi extract
(this serving makes a total of 33 siomai)

Procedure:
1. Siomai filling:  Peel off and devein the shrimps, cut into small portions.  Mix all the ingredients.
2. Scoop a teaspoonful of siomai filling and put it in the dimsum wrapper.
3. Prepare the steamer, when water is boiling put all the siomai in the steamer.
4. Steam for 20-25 minutes.
5. Serve with soysauce and lemon or calamansi extract.
6. Enjoy your meal!! This is fresh and delish! :)
